National Forest Folk Club, Moira Miners’ Welfare, Leicestershire

Joining us on their “Summer Promise” tour, The Shee make a very welcome return to Moira’s shores.

Cross-Border folk multi-instrumentalists and festival favourites, The Shee, met on the Folk and Traditional Music Degree course at Newcastle University in 2006.

They are an exceptional band boasting powerful and emotional vocal performances and instrumental prowess. Featuring the talents of BBC Radio 2 Folk Musician of the Year 2017, Rachel Newton on harp and glorious vocals, Sting’s clogger of choice, Amy Thatcher, on accordion, Laura Beth Salter on mandolin, and vocals, Olivia Ross on violin and vocals, Lillias Kinsman Blake on flute and Signy Jakobsdotir on percussion, it’s an award-winning all-female powerhouse of  a band.

The band are now working on material for their new album, which will feature an adventurous brew of Folk, Gaelic and Bluegrass music. Expect low airs, Gaelic ballads, original songs, high energy tunes, hypnotic riffs, and of course … clog dancing !
